Both the Brooklyn Public Library and the New York Public Library are pretty nice. They have huge collections and you can reserve items online. Both libraries will send your items to any branch library you want! They also have great events — not just book readings, but also practical workshops on topics like buying a condo, investing money, resume writing, etc.
But the BPL is better because they will email you a reminder three days before your books are due! Also, the BPL is a better meeting place; they are a less strict about keeping noise levels down (at least at their Pacific branch).
