Cat of Finance

Land Lubber isn’t gaining popularity at the rate I had hoped it would. maybe if i made some tshirts for it, to get the word out?

in the meantime, I started serving tables at a stuffy members-only club on Sunday, and I got my first paycheck yesterday! As you can imagine, after a year of more-or-less not working (mostly less), this $98 (post-tax) check made me feel pretty flush, and I have been buying all sorts of things that I would normally hold back on.

Like today, I was wandering around Chinatown & I couldn’t stop myself from buying this legless cat! Isn’t it awesome? And useless! Engine helped me pick out the color because the cat also comes in red, white, green, pink, and black. The black cat was the best (it wards off evil) but the shop was sold out. Anyway, I can feel this yellow guy doing his job already! Nothing can get me down!

Paper Weights

The local copy shop worker freaked when I asked them if they could run 130# cover stock through their color laser copier. And then he asked if I knew the gram/meter² weight.

argh! why so many systems? … the explanation is worse than I thought (the same paper has different weights depending on its end use/grade, as each end use is cut to different dimensions, before calculating the weight). And there are so many end uses!

All that time working at a print shop & I thought there was only cover, text, normal & foam core.

At least the internet has paper weight calculators! One day I’m going to remake that calculator w/a drop down menu for common paper basis sizes. Or we could all go metric!
